Gilberto Benetton is the co-founder of the clothing retailer Benetton Group and he has an estimated net worth of $2.9 billion as of April 2016, according to Forbes. He is the 11th richest person in Italy and 736th in the world.

Benetton earned his estimated net worth of $2 billion when he founded Benetton Group in 1965 along with his siblings LucianoCarlo and Giuliana. Today, the group a global leader in fashion apparel and is active in 120 countries around the world. However, in May 2012, the family delisted the company from the Milan stock exchange with the steeper competition and weaker results. In 2011, profits fell by nearly 30% to $95 million.

Gilberto is the chairman of Edizione S.r.l., the family investment company, and he oversees all financial and real estate investments. He is also the chairman of the publicly traded Autogrill restaurants which serve customers on highways and in airports since 1995. Aside from being the director of Benetton, he serves as the director of Mediobanca, Atlantia and Pirelli where the family owns stakes.
