Ernie Boch Jr. earned most of his networth from his grandfather's inheritance. Andrew Boch, his grandfather, started the family business by purchasing the Massachusetts-based  Nash Motors franchise in 1945. In the 1960's, Ernie Boch's father developed the business into one of the leading Rambler dealers in the U.S. He had his first car, the 1971 Volkswagen Beetle at age 16.

In addition to being a businessman, Ernie Boch Jr. is also a musician. He is a member of  Ernie and the Automatics which released a top rank album later on.
