Hedge fund manager Daniel Seth Loeb has an estimated net worth of $2.6 billion as of April 2016 according to Forbes. He currently serves as the founder and chief executive officer of Third Point LLC, a hedge fund currently based in New York.

After completing his degree in economics from Columbia University, Daniel Loeb worked at Citicorp then at Warburg Pincus. It was in 1995 when he founded Third Point LLC.

Currently, Loeb holds 5.8% of Yahoo! stock thru Third Point LLC. Since then, he has been vocal about his intention of joining the board of Yahoo. He even proposed to include himself, Jeff Zucker (CEO of NBC Universal), Harry Wilson (retired executive at Goldman Sachs) and Michael Wolf (MTV Networks Executive) in Yahoo! board. On May 3,2013, he exposed that Scott Thompson, Yahoo!'s CEO at the time was not a Computer Science graduate in contrast to what is commonly known. This led to the resignation of Thomson ten days later. On the same day, Loeb, Wilson, Zucker and Wolf officially became the members of the board of Yahoo!.
