About Bud Paxson
American media executive Bud Paxson has an estimated net worth of $400 million in 2012. Bud Paxson was born in 1938 in Florida. He is an alumnus of Syracuse University. Currently divorced, Bud has four children named Todd, Devon, Marla, and Nicole.
Prior to his successful venture with the talk show host Bob Circosta, Bud Paxson was known to be the owner of several radio/TV stations which include WACK Radio, TV station WNYP (channel 26), and WWQT 1470 AM radio station.
In 1977, he asked Bob Circosta to advertise and sell avocado-green-colored can openers over the airwaves and they were overwhelmed with the response from the listeners. Just within an hour, 112 can openers were sold.
Subsequently, Paxson Communications was formed and Bud Paxson continued on purchasing billboards, radio stations and TV stations. Shortly, he sold them all and invested his money to a network of family-friendly TV shows, PAX TV. However, his venture proved to be unsuccessful.
PAX TV was later renamed to i, which means Independent Television. Shortly, Bud Paxson decided to resign from the company. Today, Paxson Communications is known as Ion Media Networks.
