Alghanim led the firm from the early 70's to the 90's. He has installed a Western-style management structure with decentralized decision-making process. However, the Alghanim brothers have long been fighting in court over the division of the assets in the company. He lately sued Kutayba and his son Omar for hacking into his emails and reading about his personal affairs. A U.K. judge found out, in October 2011, that two people were liable for the hacking of Bassam’ email. It looked like that they were ordered by Kutayba and Omar. A judge in the U.S. out the case on hold and has moved to the Kuwait court system. Today, Bassam is no longer associated with the family holding company.
