He was hired by Alfa Group in 1992 to oversee the establishment of a private investment fund. After several months, he became the chief executive of Alfa Capital, the fund management company of the group. In 1998, after expanding Alfa Capital, he was appointed as the first deputy of the chairman of the bank and became responsible for all of the bank’s investment funds.

As the Chairman of the Board at Altimo, the telecom subsidiary of Alfa Group, he is responsible in overseeing the cell network operator Vimpelcom.
