Ali Metin Kazanci is the owner of Kazanci Holding and he has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion as of March 2013 according to Forbes. He founded the firm in the 1960's but he started trading at the end of the 1950's. It has been a leader in the energy sector for more than 50 years with interests in generator production, natural gas distribution, and electricity power plant installation and operation.

Kazanci’s estimated net worth of $1.3 billion makes him the 22nd richest person in Turkey and the 1107th in the world. In 1968, he founded the Watt Electric Engine Factory which created the AKSA Group. He then founded the Kazancı Technical Tools - Spare Part A.S. in 1983 and in 1984, he founded the Aksa Machine Industry A.S. for generator production and selling activities. Aksa Services was founded in 1986 to increase the post-production selling activities. In 1994, Aksa Generator, and Aksa Selling and Marketing were founded.

Aside from its investments in the energy sector, Kazanci Holding has also invested in agriculture and tourism which helped increase its contribution in the country’s economy with the taxes paid. In 2012, it sold its 13.3% in the electricity production company traded on the ISE, Aksa Energy, for $240 million to Goldman Sachs. In almost the same time, Ali Metin Kazanci has transferred one third of his shares in the firm to his youngest son Cemil Kazanci who then became part of the billionaires list.
