Israeli businessman Alec E. Gores has an estimated net worth of $2.1 billion as of April 2016 according to Forbes. Most of his wealth is derived from leverage buyouts of many technology firms.

Of Greek and Lebanese ancestry, Alec Gores was born in Nazareth, Israel, in 1953. After attending Genesee High School, he studied at Western Michigan University where he completed his degree in computer science. Alec Gores is currently divorced with five children.

After graduation, he founded Executive Business Systems in 1978. As of 1986, the company has already employed more than 200 employees. Later on, it was acquired by CONTEL for around $2 million. After the purchase of Executive Business Systems, he started operating and acquiring non-core businesses from many major corporations. In 1987, he founded the private equity firm  The Gores Group which in the next 25 years has acquired 80 firms. In 2012, the firm acquired four info tech companies. A year before that, The Gores Group looked into buying EMI Group, a British music label, but it was later acquired by Universal Music.
