Abdulla Al Futtaim is known to be the owner of conglomerate Al Futtaim Group which operates various world renowned brands like Honda vehicles, Toyota vehicles, Marks & Spencer franchises, Ikea, and Toys "R" Us. He is also one of the owners of Dubai Festival City which is considered as the largest urban community funded privately. The group was founded in the 1930's and during the 1940's and 1950's, Al Futtaim Group incurred major growth and development which led the group to become an integrated, industrial and commercial organization in United Arab Emirates.

Al Futtaim Group is currently in the process of constructing the Doha Festival City in Qatar. The construction is said to be done by 2014. In 2000, the Al-Futtaim family decided to split the business in two. Abdulla Al Futtaim took over the retail and automotive business while his cousin is focused on their property development business.
