Throughout his legal career, Joe Jamail has specialized on personal injury cases. For representing Pennzoil against Texaco, Jamail received a contingency fee of $335 million.

In 1986, together with his wife Lee, Joe Jamail built the Lee and Joseph D. Jamail Foundation which has already given $200 million to performance arts, education and medical research. More than $30 million of which was donated to the University of Texas which gives scholarships to 4,500 students.
