As of March 2013, Singaporean businessman and investor Peter Lim has an estimated net worth of $2 billion according to Forbes Magazine. He is #736 in the World Billionaires List (#764 in 2012), #5 in Singapore, and #9 in Singapore’s 40 Richest List. Born Peter Lim Eng Hock, he studied at the Ruffles Institution and graduated at the University of Western Australia with a degree in accounting. Nicknamed the “Remisier King,” he started as a stockbroker for mainly Indonesian clients. He became a full time investor in 1996 when he invested $10 million in Wilmar International, a palm oil producer. It now has an approximate value of $700 million. Also, he is the second-largest investor in FJ Benjamin, a fashion distributor in Singapore. Other interests include logistics and agri-business. He has shares in Chinese property developer Yanlord Land and British automaker McLaren.

Recently, Lim has stepped up his investments in Malaysia when partnered with state-owned property developer UEM Land Holdings to build a $1.2 billion motor racing complex, Motor City, in the Iskandar region in Johor. He is also partnering with Johor’s royal family through his Thomson Medical to build a medical hub in the area. This is part of the $3 billion integrated development called Vantage Bay which is developed by Rowsley, a company that he also controls.
