In the year 2003, Chris Moneymaker became qualified for the World Series of Poker Main Event on an unheralded site called “PokerStars.” Moneymaker surprised everyone by navigating his way through a shark-infested field. He was able to take down the Main Event and won the $2.5 million first-place prize. That was the first live poker tournament. Lots of poker professionals come and go. However, Moneymaker was able to stay in the game for more than a decade. Thanks to his accounting background, he seems to be very smart with money. That information allowed him to stay as a part of the poker community for a long time.
Chris still appears on the live poker tournament circuit. He is still living the life and tours as a professional poker player. As of the moment, he serves as an ambassador for the Hollywood Poker Open and a member of Team PokerStars Pro.
