The Todd family, which is currently based in Wellington, owned and controlled Todd Corporation, one of New Zealand's largest companies and the family are regular Rich Listers. Maintained under two distinct branches Todd Energy and Todd Capital. The corporation is controlled by John D. Todd, he succeeded Sir Bryan Todd in 1987 when Sir Bryan died. The family-owned Todd Energy has grown to a $4 billion operation spanning oil and gas exploration, and electricity generation.
