Todd McFarlane was born in the year 1961. He is a Canadian artist, cartoonist, writer, entrepreneur and toy designer with a net worth of $300 million.
He was born in Calgary and he picked up drawing as his hobby. He was a great fan of comic creators like Frank Miller, Jack Kirby, John Byrne, and George Perez. Alan Moore’s writing also greatly fascinated him. When he was as young as 16, he created the character of Spawn and spent hours to perfect each component of the character. On a baseball scholarship, he attended graphic art classes at the University of Eastern Washington. Todd always wanted to make his career in baseball, but one severe ankle injury brought a full stop to his dreams. It was then that he concentrated on drawing. He also worked at a comic novel store to fund the rest of his education.
McFarlane has earned his wealth from his numerous works in comic novels and for his fantasy series Spawn. In his early days, he had to struggle. He used to send numerous works to dozens of editors, who mainly rejected his work. Some of them did send him some useful criticism. His first work was the backup story in Coyote. Todd soon began drawing for both Marvel and DC Comics. He also did the cover for DC’s Batman series and the cover for the Spider-Man series. After he left Marvel, along with six artists, he formed the umbrella company named “Image Comics”. He started his own company in the name of Todd McFarlane Productions and released Spawn. He was the artist, writer for the first seven issues of Spawn.
