American entrepreneur Andrew "Drew" Houston has an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion. Drew Houston is known to be the founder of Dropbox, an online storage and backup service.
Born on 1983 in Acton, Massachusetts, Drew Houston is a graduate of Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While studying at the university, he met Arash Ferdowsi who later became his partner in founding Dropbox.
Before his venture with Dropbox actually succeeded, Drew Houston actually had several startups which included Accolade, HubSpot and Bit9. The idea of creating Dropbox was actually inspired by Drew Houston's experiences while in college where he often left his USB drive. During that time, he noted that existing online storage services have difficulties with internet latency, bugs and large files. With this, he decided to create his own online storage and later on, he realized that it could also benefit others. It was in 2007 when he officially founded Dropbox but it took a year before it was launched into the market.
Considered as one of Silicon Valley's best start-ups, Drew Houston was also named by Business Week as one of the most promising players aged 30. Furthermore, Inc.com named him as one of top 30 under-30 entrepreneurs in the world.
