Best known for his maximalist designs featuring bold exotic prints, Roberto Cavalli was a well-known Italian fashion designer from Florence with an estimated net worth of $500 million in 2012.

On April 12th 2024, Roberto Cavalli's official Instagram page disclosed that the designer had died. No further details were provided.

He was famous for creating an extraordinary printing technique on leather — which earned him a patent. Debuting in Paris, notable fashion houses based in the city, like Pierre Cardin and Hermes, benefited from his influence.

In 1982, his first boutique opened. In 1994, one of his most his iconic design, a style of sand blasted jeans, was introduced to the market; it was later sold in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Subsequently, he launched his own fashion lines like Just Cavalli, which later featured eyewear, accessories, womenswear, menswear, loungewear, perfume, and beachwear. Additional lines followed, introducing shoes, eyewear, underwear, perfumes, watches and Angels & Devils Children Collection.

In 1997, Cavalli was selected to be one of the judges at the Miss Universe Pageant, where he met his future wife, Austria's contestant Eva Duringer, who finished second in the contest.

His child, Daniele Cavalli, is also a famous fashion designer. His marriage to Duringer resulted in three children: Daniele, Rachele and Robert. Cavailli also had two children from a previous marriage, Christiana and Tommaso.
