American business executive David Stern has an estimated net worth of $50 million. He currently works as the National Basketball Association's commissioner.

David Joel Stern was born to a Jewish family on September 22, 1942 in New York City, New York USA. After finishing a degree in history from the Rutgers University, he attended Columbia Law School where he finished a degree in three years later. He is currently married to Dianne Bock Stern with whom he has two sons, Eric and Andrew Stern.

In 1966, he joined the NBA. Fourteen years later, he became the Executive Vice President of the association. In February 1984, he succeeded Larry O'Brien as commissioner. Thirty days after he started serving the post, he announced that on February 1, 2014,  he would step down as the association's commissioner. He will be replaced by Adam Silver, his deputy.

On the same year he started working as commissioner, four biggest superstars joined the NBA which include Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Michael Jordan.

Among his achievements as NBA commissioner include the creation of the WNBA. Today, it operates in 11 offices in the USA, and is televised around the world in 215 countries, in 43 languages. Under his tenure, Stern played a crucial role in increasing the popularity of the NBA especially in the 1990s and the 2000s.
