Alexander Dzhaparidze was the Chief Executive Officer, main owner and one of the founders of Eurasia Drilling Company (EDC) with an estimated net worth of $2.3 billion as of March 2013 according to Forbes. He is also the 44th richest person in Russia and ranked 641st in the World Billionaires list.

In 2011, Dzhaparidze sold his 22% stake in the publicly traded Russian oilfield services. Prior to that, he cut his stake from 38.75% to 33.75% after selling 5% of his shares for $240 million on the markets. Alexander Dzhaparidze’s earnings after selling his shares at EDC were used to buy a piece of Hadar Fund which is considered a mysterious investment firm. He reasoned out that he just wanted to diversify. However, there is no clear data to support the success of the company.

From 1995 to 2007, Dzhaparidze served as the President of PetroAlliance Services Company Ltd, an oil services firm. He sold the company to the oil-services giant Schlumberger. Since February 2007, he has been the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. From 1990 to 1995, he was the Managing Director of the Soviet-U.S. joint venture oilfield services company MD SEIS.

Alexander Dzhaparidze holds a Mining Engineering and Geophysics degree that he earned from the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. He is also a Doctor of Science and a member of the Eurasia Geophysical Society. He was an awardee in 2006 of the RF Government prize for special achievements in science and technology.
