He is the 190th richest person in the “Forbes 400” list and is ranked 589th in the list of World Billionaires. Born Andrew Jerrold Perenchio on December 20, 1930 in Fresno, California, he worked as a young Hollywood talent agent for MCA when he relocated to Los Angeles. Also known as Jerry, Perenchio’s fortune has come mostly while working as a broadcaster for Univision, the largest Spanish-language company in the United States. In 2007, he made around $13.7 billion to a consortium led by fellow LA billionaire Haim Saban. It was the highlight of his career in the entertainment business since he started in 1964.

In 1971, A. Jerrold Perenchio co-promoted the World Heavyweight fight between Mohammad Ali and Joe Frazier at the Madison Square Garden called “Fight of the Century.” He was also the producer of the shows such as The Jeffersons and Diff’rent Strokes as well as the “Battle of the Sexes” tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobbie Briggs. He co-founded Embassy Communications along with All it the Family producer Norman Lear. They sold the company to Coca-Cola in 1985 for $485 million. The income was then reinvested in television. He bought Univision from Hallmark along with two Latin American media partners in 1992 for $550 million.
