The Sehgal family sold its Visage clothing empire last year to Hong Kong-based Li Fung in a £175m deal. The South Shields company still has involvement from the Sehgal family, led by Raj, 36, and Sanjeev Mehan, 42, the son and son-in-law of the founder, Mukesh Sehgal.
Visage began life in the 1960s as a door-to-door operation and grew to incorporate market stalls and then shops until the early 1980s when it focused on importing. It now designs, sources and supplies casualwear to high-street retailers. We value the family’s return from the sale at £120m, adding £10m for other assets and smaller companies. They currently have a net worth of $132 million.
