Virginia Madsen is an American film actress. Born on September 11, 1961, Madsen grew up in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of a poet and a fireman. She is related to the actor Michael Madsen, her brother, and attended acting school in Chicago and Adult Theater Seminar in Wisconsin.

Madsen first landed a role in the teen sex comedy Class. She then followed that up with a cameo in Kenny Loggins's music video "Heaven (Heaven Helps The Man)". She then had a role as a cellist in the 1984 movie Electric Dreams. Virginia got the role of Princess Irulan in the 1984 movie adaptation of the book, David Lynch's Dune.

Madsen has also had roles on Dawson's Creek, Star Trek: Voyager, CSI: Miami, Frasier, The Practice, and more. She starred in 1992's The Candyman, for which she won an award as the Best Actress by the Academy Of Science Fiction. Madsen formed her own production company in 2008 called Title IX Prods. Madsen has been in countless movies including a wine loving woman in Sideways and a concerned farmer's wife with Billy Bob Thornton in The Astronaut Farmer.
