Cameron did not start big just like any other personality. When he moved to New York City in 1999, he landed some minor roles such as in Sex and the City, The Guiding Light and All My Children. He also became a print model for Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Maxim and GQ.

Jason Cameron has always been fascinated with carpentry and construction since a very young age. He went to be a construction worker after college to make ends meet. He auditioned as an on-screen carpenter for the TLC program While You Were Out in 2003 and got the job to join in the second season. He stayed on until the end of the show in 2006.

After the show, he became a licensed contractor and was invited by the DIY Network to participate in their landscape makeover show Desperate Landscapes in 2007. He also became the host of Man Caves and Project Xtreme on the same network.
