As an American actress, Tracee Ellis Ross is best recognized as Joan Clayton in the series titled Girlfriends and Dr. Carla Reed in the sitcom Reed Between the Lines. Tracee Ellis Ross, Tracee Joy Silberstein in real life, is the daughter of Robert Ellis Silberstein, a music business manager, and Diana Ross, a singer, and actress. She is the half-sister of the musician and actor Evan Ross.

After graduating with a degree on Theater, Tracee Ellis Ross started working in the fashion industry as a model. Her acting career started in 1996 when she was given a role in the film Far Harbor. Her other projects include Sue, Hanging Up, The Lyricist Lounge Show, Life Support, Daddy's Little Girls, Labor Pains, and CSI. For playing the role of  Joan Carol Clayton, Tracee Ellis Ross earned a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series in 2007 and won the same award for the same role in 2009.
