Tony Curtis born as Bernard Schwartz was an American actor with a net worth of $60 million.
Curtis has acted in over 100 films of various genres from comedy to drama. Curtis’s career spans from 1948 to 2010, the time he died from a cardiac arrest. Curtis was born on 3rd June 1925. Initially, he got his roles for his good looks, but gradually during the mid-1950’s, he was being noted by the critics and was appraised for his performances. In the beginning, Tony used to star in movies of genres like westerns, light comedies, sports films, and musicals. But “Houdini” of 1953 was different. The critic David Thomson mentioned that Tony’s acting capabilities have vastly improved.
He was recognized as a serious dramatic actor for the first time with 1957’s “Sweet Smell of Success”. Critics recognized his performance again which earned him an Oscar nomination for the Best Actor category for the 1958 movie “The Defiant Ones”. In 1959 he came up with “Some Like It Hot”, where he probably exerted his best acting performance ever. It went on to become a classic. The film co-starred Marilyn Monroe. In 1959, he starred in Operation Petticoat with Cary Grant, and in 1960, he acted in “Spartacus”, which was equally successful at the box office.
Curtis proved himself again with the release of “The Boston Strangler”. It is also considered as his last major film. He had to play the role of real-life serial killer Albert DeSalvo. Curtis gained 30 pounds and had his look re-built for this movie.
