Tom Petersson, born on 9th May 1950, is the popular name of Thomas John Petersson. He is an American musician with a total net worth of $ 16 million. This impressive wealth has been accumulated over years by being the bassist for the famous American rock band “Cheap Trick”. Interestingly, Tom was born in Rockford, Illinois, which is also the birthplace of Bun E. Carlos, the famous drummer of the band.

Petersson was the first one to play a 12 string Bass guitar with his debut song “Heaven Tonight”. Petersson was associated with Cheap Trick only for a short time. He left the band after the recording of “All Shook Up” on 26th August 1980. Shortly thereafter, he released his solo album “Tom Peterson and Another Language”. He relocated to New York to perform with his new band “Sick Man of Europe” with Rick Nielsen.

He also appeared in the album of “Fast Man Raider Man” by Frank Black that was released in June 2006, and also the song “Someday” in the video of Concrete Blonde. Tom rejoined the band for their “Lap of Luxury” album in 1988 and is still active with the band. He performed in “The Latest” and “Rockford” which released in June 2009 and 2006 under the new name of the band “Cheap Trick Unlimited”.

Tom Petersson’s character was portrayed by Barney Stinson in the hit TV show “How I Met Your Mother” in hopes of picking up a girl. Tom Petersson married Alison – the couple has a son named Liam and a daughter named Lila.
