American military and espionage author Tom Clancy has an estimated net worth of $300 million. Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1947 Clancy has made a name for himself as a writer of historically accurate, detailed, and suspenseful novels set during the aftermath of the Cold War. Clancy's first novel, The Hunt for Red October, was written in 1984 and was met with instant acclaim around the world. Since his first novel, Clancy has written over a hundred books with many receiving literary awards and accolades.

In addition to his literary accomplishments, Clancy is also a part owner of the Baltimore Orioles and an active participant in Republican politics. Several of Clancy's novels have been turned into successful Hollywood movies. These movies, commonly starring Harrison Ford and Alec Baldwin as the lead character, have led to additional acclaim and popularity for Clancy. Additionally, Clancy found success as a video game entrepreneur when he founded Red Storm Entertainment in 1996. This company produced many popular video games based off of Clancy's novels including Rainbow Six, The Sum of All Fears, and Red Storm Rising. Red Storm Entertainment was purchased by video game giant Ubisoft who continue to produce games based off of Clancy's novels.
