Saul Hudson, better known by stage name Slash, has a a net worth of $32 million, and is best known for his guitar work in the rock and roll bands Guns N Roses, Slash's Snakepit, and Velvet Revolver. Born in Hampstead, London in 1965 to parents Ola and Anthony Hudson, Slash was introduced to some famous musicians at an early age. His mother was a costume designer whose clients included David Bowie; his father was an artist whose work included designing album covers for Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
Shortly after Slash was born his mother moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career and Slash was raised by his father and grandparents. When Slash was 5 years old he and his father moved to L.A. to join his mother. Slash's parents' interesting jobs made spending time together as a family somewhat difficult. In 1974 his parents divorced and Slash chose to live with Ola. In 1979 Slash started his first band with future Guns N Roses drummer Steven Adler, not much came of that band though. Slash kept on practicing though and played in a couple other unsuccessful bands.
In 1985, Slash was asked to play in Guns N Roses and in 1987 they released their debut album Appetite for Destruction which went on to sell over 28 million copies worldwide. In 1988 the song 'Sweet Child O Mine' became a No. 1 U.S. hit. Guns N Roses put out 4 more albums with Slash before his departure from the band in 1996 due to disagreements with singer Axl Rose. In 1994 Slash recorded a solo side-project called Slash's Snakepit; in 2000 they released a second album. In 2002 Slash's Snakepit broke up and Slash formed Velvet Revolver with former Guns N Roses members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Velvet Revolver released an album in 2004 and 2007. By 2011 VR had seen a few different singers but none seemed suitable for the band and they went on hiatus. In 2010 Slash released a solo album with a different all-star singer on almost every song, one being Myles Kennedy. In 2012 Slash released a follow-up to his solo album, this time with Myles Kennedy on every track. In 2013 Slash received the "Best Guitarist of the Year" in Loudwire magazine. Slash has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, but in 2006 he managed to get himself sober and has been ever since. Slash hasn't slowed down at all in his 20+ year career and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
