His first album was released in 1991. He moved to the US after this in 1992. In the US, Keith started working as a session guitarist, and started a band that he named “The Ranch”. One studio album was released with the band with Capitol Records. Two of their singles reached the Billboard country charts. With Capital, Keith came out with his first solo in 1999. It became certified platinum. “Somebody Like You” from his second album Golden Road was also a huge success. He even received a Grammy for the album “You'll Think of Me”, which was his first major award. The fourth single from this album topped the Billboard chart. Three of his other songs reached the #1 position as well. They were from Keith’s third album. It was Urban’s best-selling album. It fetched 4× Multi-Platinum certification.

Over the years, he has come out with nine studio albums. Fifteen of his singles have featured on the country charts, out of which fourteen have reached the #1 position. Keith is an extremely talented person who can also play the bass guitar, banjo, piano, mandolin, drums, bouzouki and sitar.

Keith Urban is married to the Australian actress, singer Nicole Kidman. They got married in 2006. He has two daughters from the marriage. The second daughter was born from a surrogate.
