Al Green's fortune is partly acquired from the sales of his more than 20 million records over the years. Arkansas-born Al Green started his career at the age of 10 years when he started performing in 'Greene Brothers'. Later he founded his own band known as 'Al Greene & the Creations'. However, since he was imitating his musical idols such as Wilson Pickett and James Brown at that time so he wasn't much successful. Later, when he started singing in his own original style then he tasted success and fame.

Al Greene has also been honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the BET Lifetime Achievement Award.
