In 1995, his career started, when MTV hired him as their VJ and he was on air for 2 years. Simon, however, always wanted to act in the mainstream movies or TV shows. In 2006, Rex acted in the show, “Monarch Cove”. This ran for 11 episodes. He also co-produced a show named “Rex”, where Paris Hilton, Jaime Pressley, and Lance Bass guest appeared. Rex came into the music industry as a rapper after Mickey Avalon became his friend. He took up the stage name “Dirt Nasty” and formed a rappers group called “Dyslexic Speedreaders”. This group was formed along with people like Beardo, Andre Legacy and Mickey Avalon. The group, however, was disbanded when Avalon left the team owing to differences with Andre and Rex.
