During his college days, Sanjaya passed the General Educational Developmental Test, which allowed him to leave school early so that he could concentrate on his musical career. Sanjaya also participated in the American Idol. Soon after his elimination from the show, the ratings dropped 9% and so, on the final, he performed with the top 6 males of the show.
