Best recognized as the host of the hit TV series Survivorman, Les Stroud is also a famous Canadian filmmaker and musician. Apart from being the host of Survivorman, Les Stroud also served as the show's director, creator, writer, cameraman, and producer. He has also produced other survival-themed shows like The Discovery Channel, YTV, The Science Channel and The Outdoor Life Network.

After his short-lived career in the music industry, Les Stroud became a wilderness expert, and survival guide. In fact, together with his wife Jamison, Les Stroud went to the Goldsborough Lake and they attempted to live a paleolithic life which means living without the use of plastic, metals and other manufactured tools. On the first half of their paleolithic existence, the couple ate squash, maple sugar, bear fat, moose meat, beaver and wild rice. On the last half of their journey, some friends brought them food.
