A top music executive, 61-year-old Ames started his career with EMI in 1975 and later became the head of London Records, taken over in 1999 by Warner in a £140m deal. At the time it was stated that London Records was acquired from a "discretionary trust, of which Roger Ames is a beneficiary”. He rejoined EMI in 2005, having run Warner’s music operations from 1999 to 2004. He left EMI in 2008 but continued there as a consultant.Assuming he owned most of London Records, Ames has a net worth of £120m according to the 2011 Sunday Times Rich List.
