Originating from Los Angeles California, Hopsin was born on July 18, 1985. While attending James Monroe High School, Hopsin started focusing his attention on rapping at age 16. In 2004, he decided to drop out of school and pursue a career on music.

This American rapper is known for wearing colored eye contacts which he personally chose as according to him, it allows him to differentiate himself from other African American artists as well as in creating a memorable appearance and impression to his audience.

Initially, Hopsin was signed to Ruthless Records, and in May 27, 2008, his first single titled "Pans In the Kitchen" was released. The following year, Gazing at the Moonlight, his debut album was released. However, Hopsin was forced to leave the company shorty due to inadequate compensation, promotion and artist support.
