Along with David Mavs, he became the principal of The Source. The magazine was so popular that it sold over 360,000 music copies in 2001. Their annual profit was approximately $10 million. The Source is the world's longest-running hip-hop publication. Being a founding member of the rap groups The Almighty RSO and Made Man added to his success and provided a huge boost to his career. With enough public support and acclaim, he decided to strike out on his own as a solo artist. The Benzino Project (2001), Redemption (2003), Arch Nemesis (2005), and The Antidote (2006) are among his studio albums (2007). After The Source Magazine went bankrupt due to a lawsuit, Benzino and Mavs created Hip Hop Weekly and the publication is worth $10 million dollars.

His feud with Eminem was also one of the reasons he became well-known. He was also involved in a legal dispute with rapper Eminem after started referring him as "2003 Vanilla Ice." They both wrote and produced diss tracks about each other, like Benzino's "Skirt Up" and Eminem's "The Sauce." It ended with Eminen victorious and Benzino being labeled as an insecure rapper as a result of Eminem's success. Fortunately, in 2012, he publicly apologized to Eminem, which drew widespread acclaim for his boldness in stepping forward and asking for forgiveness.

From 2012 to 2014, Benzino appeared on the VH1 reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, which thrust him back into the spotlight. He was once engaged to Althea Heart. Althea filed a restraining order against Benzino after the couple split up. He then hit her with a paternity suit. They appeared on Season 6 of the television show Marriage Boot Camp, where they documented their broken relationship. He has also appeared in reality shows like The Next: 15 and Hollywood Hearts.

Despite the fact that he is currently single, the actor has dated Karlie Reed. He has three children: Brittany Collins, Taj Collins, and Coi Leray. In March 2021, Coi Leray, his well-known rapper daughter, claimed in her lyrics that Benzino was a bad father. This sparked an Instagram feud between the father and daughter.
