Wan James is a Malaysian born writer, producer and director with a net worth of $50 million. Wan was born on February 27th, 1977 and made feature films on the independent market before he gained success in the mainstream film industry. His first feature film, Stygian, made with Shannon Young, won the Best Guerrilla Film category at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival in the year 2000 giving him recognition as a producer. He is also well known for co-writing and directing the very first hit horror film, Saw, as well as inventing Billy the puppet. He has also executive produced in the other Saw sequels.

James has also directed Death Sentence, Insidious, Dead Silence and The Conjuring. Wan entered into negotiations with Universal pictures in April, 2013 to direct the Fast and Furious seventh installment after he was included in the directorial shortlist. It was confirmed that Wan would direct the movie and lead the franchise into a new chapter.
