Doug Ellin is an American screenwriter and director who has an estimated net worth of $40 million. He earned his fortune from writing and producing brilliant programs like Entourage and directing hits like Amongst Friends and Sundance.

Born Douglas Reed Ellin on April 6, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, he attended Tulane University after graduating from John F. Kennedy High School. He began his career as a stand up comedian and soon got a job at New Line Cinema in the mail room.

Ellin has worked as a staff writer for the Bonnie Hunt movie Life with Bonnie (2003-2004), which starred Bonnie Hunt. As the assistant director of the short film The Pitch by Mike DeLuca, Doug Ellin got through to the American Film Institute and directed his debut Phat Beach. He made subsequent appearances by selling few screenplays to Miramax.

Entourage was his prime success on television where he made a deal of eight figures with HBO and continued producing the show. Ellin has been nominated in Emmy Awards multiple times for his outstanding script and directions in numerous films. He also received four Writers Guild of America Awards, three PGA Awards and one  BAFTA nominations while he won a BAFTA and a PGA award. In 2015, he wrote, directed and produced the film adaptation of his popular series.
