Mackintosh's eponymous London-based theatre company made a £20.2m profit in 2009-10 and should see a healthy advance in 2010-11. His 25th anniversary production of Les Misérables last year has given new life to the show globally. A former stagehand, Mackintosh, 64, got his break in 1981, producing Cats by Lord Lloyd-Webber (qv). His theatres, rights to shows and a stake in an American licensing business are worth £550m. Private assets take him to £725m.
