Richard T. Ocasek is an American producer and musician. Ric Ocasek’s net worth has been estimated to be $30 million. Ric has earned his wealth from his career as a lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band “The Cars”.

Ocasek was born on 23rd March 1949. His father was a computer-analyst for NASA. At the age of 16, because of his father’s profession, he had to move to Cleveland, Ohio. Ric graduated from the Maple Heights High School in Ohio. He then went to the Bowling Green State University. During the 1970s, he was with various bands such as Crosby, Stills and Nash & Young.

Along with friend Ben Orr, Ric influenced Milkwood a folk band. Under paramount record label, the band released its first album in 1972. The album was a total disaster leading to the splitting up of the band. Ocasek eventually made a name with the formation of his successful band “New Wave”, which changed into Cap’n Swing. But the name was changed again to “The Cars”. The band was at its peak between 1978 and 1988.

In 1982, Ocasek released his first solo album Beatitude. Then, in 1986, he released “This Side of Paradise” with the hugely popular single Emotion in Motion. In 1988, The Cars broke up. In 1990, he again came up with Fireball Zone, and in 1993 with Quick Change World. Getchertikitz came in 1996 and Toublizing in 1997.

Negative Theatre is Ocaseks first venture into poetry – it was published in 1993. In 2009, Ocasek’s paintings and crafts were showcased at a gallery in Columbus, Ohio. He has also appeared in movies such as Hairspray, Made in Haven, and Take the Money and Run. Ocasek is presently married to Pavlina Porizkova.
