About John Graham McVie

John McVie got his first job in a band known as ‘Krewsaders’ as a designation of a bass player. The band generally used to play bass in weddings and parties and they also covered the songs from The Shadows. He realized soon that everybody was doing the lead guitar, and so he opted for the bass guitar instead, and that is how the world came to see one of the best bass guitarists ever.

John has been a part of various albums like Fleetwood Mac, Mr. Wonderful, The Play On, and many more. He also has his solo album known as John McVie’s, “Gotta Band with Lola Thomas”. Released in 1992, this is his only solo album. With Fleetwood Mac, John has given us Then Play On, Bare Trees, Mystery to Me, Tusk, Tango in the Night, The Dance, and many others. With Bluesbreakers, he has given John Mayall Plays John Mayall, Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton, A Hard Road, and Crusade. In 1998, for his work in Fleetwood Mac, John was included in “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’.

He was married to a piano player and lead singer Christine Perfect of the blues band Chicken Shack. But they got divorce. He started to drink heavily. After some time in 1978, he decided to get married again with Julie Ann Reubens. Ann gave birth to a girl child Molly McVie. During his leisure time, McVie’s passion is sailing. Once on a pacific voyage, he nearly got lost.

On October 27, 2013 through a post by Fleetwood Mac on its Facebook page said that McVie was diagnosed with colon cancer. Despite of his condition, he continued to play for the band during the 2014 On With The Show tour.
