About David Coverdale

Coverdale was the lead singer of Deep Purple. He wanted a solo career, and so he left the band in 1976. He has been actively associated with the music industry since 1973. Hard rock, blues-rock, heavy metal, and Glam metal are his genres.

As a solo singer, Coverdale’s first music album was titled “Whitesnake”. His 2nd album “Northwinds” received a better response. Inspired by the title of his first album, he formed a band which was called Whitesnake after his 2nd album was released. Initially, the band didn’t do that well. However, with the release of Coverdale’s 1987 album, Whitesnake became a huge hit. The album sold 8 times platinum since its release.

David Coverdale was born on 22nd September 1951 in England. He always aspired to become a singer and started performing at the age of 14. He auditioned for the band Deep Purple and got selected. The first album, ”Burn” was released by Deep Purple. The next album, Stormbringer became a Gold album in the U.K. and U.S.

Coverdale holds dual citizenship of both the US and the UK. He has been living in Nevada, near Lake Tahoe for over 20 years now. After two failed marriages, he married “The Food that Rocks” author Cindy Barker and has been living with her since 1997.
