American socialite, model, fashion designer, actress and media personality, Paris Hilton, has an estimated net worth of $100 million. Paris gets between $25,000 and $100,000 for her appearance at parties and clubs. Paris’ family money comes from the hotel business, but Paris has her hands in a lot of business as well. Paris has a shoe line, perfume, CD and movie royalties. She also earns from event appearances, book publishing, clothes, and hair accessories, among others. "Career heiress" doesn't cut it; nor does "party girl" or "high-ranking socialite-cum-model-cum-actress," and "American royalty" was arguably too dramatic a label for a woman whose true breakout role cost less to film than a night in a budget room at the neighborhood Hilton hotel. She is the heiress of the hotel guru, Conrad Hilton (founder of Hilton Hotels).
Paris became famous for possessing the ingredients of fame, albeit minus the resumé. As she grew skinnier, blonder, wilder, and richer, society joyfully embraced her as gossip fodder and allowed her to adopt a movie-star mystique while waiving the irksome requirement of having starred in an actual movie. This is not to say Hilton has no film credits to her name. In 2001, she landed a cameo role as herself in Ben Stiller's Zoolander. Not long after, she stretched her acting chops to play a rowdy clubber in The Cat in the Hat (2003). Unfortunately for Hilton, her small role in James Cox's crime thriller, Wonderland, was overshadowed by a larger role in an explicit homemade sex video, which her ex-boyfriend promptly sold to the salivating Internet hoards.
Over the years, Hilton has gained more notoriety by appearing in television, movies, commercials, modeling, and legal incidents. According to Forbes magazine, in 2003-2004 she earned approximately US$2 million for her television and movie roles, between 2004-2005 her earnings from television, movies, modeling, and personal appearances earned her an additional $6.5 million. During this period, Forbes Magazine has ranked Hilton as one of the top 100 celebrities in the world. She is an example of the modern phenomenon of the 'celebutante', the celebrity who rises to fame not because of their talent or work but because of their inherited wealth and controversial lifestyle. As a result of several legal incidents, Hilton served a widely publicized sentence in a Los Angeles County jail in 2007. She was born Paris Whitney Hilton on February 17, 1981, in New York City, New York, U.S.
