Media mogul Ted Harbert is the Chairman of NBC Broadcasting, and has an estimated net worth of $15 million. The veteran American broadcasting and television executive used to be the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Comcast Entertainment Group and the Chairman of ABC Entertainment.

Edward W. Harbert III was born on June 15, 1955 in New York. While growing up, he dreamed of becoming a part of the television industry. His broadcasting career began while he was still a student at Boston University. He worked at the college radio station, WTBU, along with his friend, Howard Stern. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Broadcasting and Film from the Boston University of Communications.

Mr. Harbert returned to New York and worked at ABC after graduation. In 1981, he relocated to Los Angeles and spent 20 years at ABC, where he was a feature film coordinator and later the president of ABC Entertainment. He has been responsible for such programs as The Wonder Years, NYPD Blue, The Practice and My So Called Life.

Ted Harbet was also a producer for two years at Dreamworks TV. In 1999, he was named president of NBC Studios, where he oversaw primetime, day time and late night programs. He was appointed president of E! Networks in 2004. By 2006, he was promoted president and CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group, and was in charge of E!, Style Network, G4, Comcast International Media Group, and Comcast Entertainment Productions.

In 2011, Harbert was appointed Chairman of NBC after it was acquired by Comcast. He oversees the Advertising Sales for NBC, the NBC Owned Television Stations, Affiliate Relations, Network Research, Domestic Television Distribution, NBCUniversal Digital Entertainment and Special Events.

Ted Harbert serves on the boards of the Friends of the Saban Free Clinic, City Year LA, Paley Center for Media, Hollywood Radio and Television Society, and the Executive Committee of Boston University’s School of Communication.
