Sam Champion, with a Net Worth of $10 Million, is the weather anchor of Good Morning America on ABC, and the weather editor of ABC News. He reportedly makes $1.5 million per year. A veteran of ABC, he was a veteran weatherman for Eyewitness News on WABC-TV since 1988. He did some fill-in work for the station despite having a fulltime job.

Born Samuel James Champion on August 13, 1961 in Paducah, Kentucky, USA, he is a graduate of Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia in 1979. He earned his B.A. in broadcast news from Eastern Kentucky University where he worked as an intern at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky.

Champion was seen on a January 4, 2010 segment of World News with Diane Sawyer. He debuted as a host of Sea Rescue, an education and informational program in Litton’s Weekend Adventure on April 7, 2012. The show focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and,  in many instances, the release of animals back to the wild.

Sam Champion has also worked at WPSD-TV in Paducah and WJKS (now WCWJ) in Jacksonville, Florida. He did weekday weather forecasts for WABC-TV. He was named to his current position with GMA and ABC News in August 2006, effective September 5, 2006.

Never a meteorologist, Champion gained his weather forecasting knowledge through his broadcast work. He occasionally appeared on Live! with Kelly and Michael, the daily talk show produced by WABC-TV, as well as on Larry King Live on CNN.
