Dublin-based Doherty, 53, and her Northern Ireland-born husband McColgan, 65, jointly own the Irish dance show Riverdance, which is touring America, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong this year. It has already made them £55m with 22m people seeing it in 350 venues. Their director’s fees fell to £1m in 2009. The couple are also behind TV company Tyrone Productions, creator of the All Ireland Talent Show, and have other assets.
She is a director of Tyrone Productions, one of Ireland’s leading independent television production companies, whose output includes drama, documentary and entertainment programming. She was a founding director of the radio station Today FM and, as a member of the Board of the Dublin Theatre Festival, Miss Doherty is heavily involved in promoting new and challenging theatrical work in Ireland.
She married co-founder of Riverdance, John McColgan, and she is regarded as one of the richest women in Ireland, with an estimated fortune of £42 million.The 2011 Sunday Times Rich List valued the couples net worth at £70m.
