Jermaine Lamarr Cole better known as J. Cole is an American hip hop recording artist. His net worth is estimated to be $18 million in 2015. Born in Germany, he has an African-American father who served in the U.S. army for years, and a white mother.

Jermaine started rapping at an early age of 12 years. At the age 15, he took up rap seriously and joined a local group called “Bomb Shelter”. Cole grew up in a multi-ethnic environment which had a greater impact on his music. He studied guitar from the well known artist Mark Ebert. Inspired by rappers like Canibus, and Tupac Shakur he started developing stories with his raps.

The year 2009 is when he got his first opportunity to record his songs. He was one the first few artists to get signed by the Jay Z Roc Nation Label and released his mixtape album called, “The Warm Up”. The album received positive reviews. He also appeared in “A Star is Born” in Jay-Z’s 2009 album “The Blueprint 3”. Cole takes pride in calling himself the first German rapper.

In the year 2011, he came up with “Cole World: The Sideline Story”. The album was a huge success. It debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 charts along with the Top R&B Albums and the Top Rap Albums chart. The album sold off about more than 217,000 copies in its first week. He also got nominated at the 54th Grammy Awards for the Best New Artist. On February, 2012, Cole was followed by more than two million fans on Twitter. To celebrate it, he released the song “Grew up fast”. Cole is presently working on his upcoming studio album “Born Sinner” which is due to release in 2013.
