French Stewart was a student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He performed in regional theatres for almost seven years. He got his first break in television after these regional tours. Stewart received the Screen Actors Guild card while working for Hanna-Barbara’s “ShakeyQuakey tour”.

His first role was of a spaced-out disk-jockey in “The New WKRP in Cincinnati” (the last season. However, French was terminated from the tour as he removed the head of the costume he was wearing while still performing. He then got the break-in “3rd Rock from the Sun”. He was offered roles in several commercials and became a spokesperson for Clamato, a beverage, after the increasing popularity in the television series. French has tried acting in movies too and he has been very successful there as well. He was seen performing in the movie of 2011, “The Muppets as Gabe Lou” and the “Watch Salesman”. He also played the role of the Beverly Hills Dog Show Commentator in the series “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2”. Over the years, Stewart has won several awards and nominations.

French Stewart was previously married to actress Katherine LaNasa from 1998 till 2009. The couple owned and operated several zoos in Albuquerque.

He is currently married to actress Vanessa Claire Smith. They got married in June 2011.
