Born in the US state of Wisconsin, Rob Marshall is a renowned film and theater director and choreographer. He worked in the theater scene in Pittsburgh while he was studying in the Carnegie Mellon University. He made his debut into movies in Annie with Martin Charnin and Charles Strouse. His next project was Chicago. Rob had already arrived by then because for Chicago, he got his Best Director Academy Award nomination. Next he did “Memoirs of a Geisha”, which was received rave reviews. This movie featured Ken Watanabe, Michelle Yeoh, Gong Li, and Zhang Ziyi. The fact that it was produced by none other than Steven Spielberg proves that Hollywood realized what a good director Marshall was. “Memoirs of a Geisha” was a huge success as well. It won as many as three Academy Awards. Its box office collection was $162,242,962.
