Born James Francis Cameron on August 16, 1954 in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada, the legendary Canadian film director, film producer, screenwriter, editor, and inventor, has an estimated net worth of $700 million. As the director of the highest grossing film of all time, Cameron is definitely "king of hollywood". Avatar has earned over $2.7 billion at the box office alone and has changed the way Hollywood makes films. Cameron is already at work on Avatar 2. His older films, including Titanic, which earned a combined $3 billion and he will continue to earn big for many years to come on these films. He's already at work on two sequels to the film which are slated for 2014 and 2015.

The top-tiered action director of his generation, as well as one of the most allegedly demanding and difficult, James Cameron reshaped 1980s and '90s Hollywood with a string of lucrative multimillion-dollar films remarkable for their marriage of technical wizardry and human sentiment. Cameron's 1997 blockbuster Titanic exemplified this union of elements, as one of the highest grossing motion pictures in the history of the medium.

In total, Cameron's directorial efforts have grossed approximately US$2 billion in North America and US$6 billion worldwide.

Cameron received the Bradbury Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1991—but, being primarily thought of as a genre filmmaker, he did not receive any major mainstream filmmaking awards prior to Titanic. With Titanic, Cameron received Academy Awards for Best Film Editing (shared with Conrad Buff and Richard A. Harris), Best Picture (shared with Jon Landau), and Best Director. He also won a Golden Globe Award for best director for the film.
