Farhan Akhtar is an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter, producer, playback singer, lyricist, and television host, and has an estimated net worth of $2.5 million.
Akhtar began his directorial career by working as an apprentice in cinematography and direction for Yash Chopra’s Lamhe in 1991.
Then, he shifted to an advertisement production house, Script Shop. He also assisted Pankaj Parashar as a director in 1997 film, Himalay Putra before launching himself into direction and writing.
In 2001, he made his directorial debut with the acclaimed film Dil Chahta Hai. The film was produced by Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi in 2002. It was screened at the International Film Festival of India, the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Austin Film Festival.
Akhtar appeared in the film Lakshya in 2004. Then, he collaborated with his sister, Zoya in writing the English lyrics of Gurinder Chadha’s Hollywood film, Bride and Prejudice, in 2004.
In 2006, Akhtar directed, produced, and wrote the screenplay for Don. The film starred actor Shah Rukh Khan, and was a remake of a 1978 film starring Amitabh Bachchan. In 2007, he produced the film Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd, which was directed by Reema Kagti.
In 2008, Akhtar made his musical debut in the film, Rock On!!, which was directed by Abhishek /Kapoor.
He produced his sister Zoya’s directorial debut Luck By Chance. In 2010, he produced and appeared in the film Karthik Calling Karthik.
Other film projects he did are Game,Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaraalong, Don 2, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, among others.
